Global Dignity Day 2009 was held in Inglewood, CA. Inglewood is located about 15 miles south of Downtown Los Angeles. YGL Andrew Cohen and Evan Brown from JP Morgan Chase, in addition to Fred Smith, Senior Advisor at Operation HOPE spoke to over 75 high school students in the 10th-12th grades.
Jassel Lizardi of Merrill Lynch (BOA) and Daniel Patak of Operation HOPE taught the Dignity Module at PS 154 – The Harriet Tubman Learning Center in Harlem, New York. The class consisted of 25 young ladies ages 10-11.
Tuesday, Oct 20th, 2009 was a special a day in Mongolia not because it was another weekday or a cloudy cold fall day, but because on this day the worldwide event – Global Dignity Day (GDD) was honored and celebrated first time in Mongolia.
Global Dignity Day co-founders HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Professor Pekka Himanen of Finland, and American “silver rights” leader and Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant join students at the Dragon School in Oxford. The GDD was a great success in Uganda, being held for the first time in Uganda. Kitega community centre an NGO in Uganda was glad to launch the Uganda chapter of Global Dignity.
The Kitega community team moved to the rural schools and talked to the children about dignity. Over 300 children were involved in the GDD in UGANDA in two schools which Kitega closely works with.
Global Dignity Day in the House of Lords – October 20th
This year Barka UK organized the Dignity Day in partnership with Salvation Army and “Dignify” Social Enterprise.
The event was attended by over 40 participants including 20 students from schools and colleges from across London as well as representatives of the UK Government and the House of Lords. Read the rest of this entry »
