Dignity Day – India

12 November, during the WEF regional meeting in India fellow, YGL Malvinder Singh together with KUSHII organized a Dignity Day at the Shikshaantra project school in Devli, Delhi. Joined by co-founder Pekka Himanen and myself we conducted a really special Dignity Day experience.

Many of these kids have have a though background and might not be able to access education if it was not for the work of KUSHII and the Shikshaantra project. Legendary cricket player and chair of the KHUSHII board Mr. Kapil Dev participated in a two hour session where the students went through the DD curriculum. One of the boys said that he was very grateful for being able to go to school to learn and that he in turn would like to give back by by becoming a teacher himself so he can educate other children that are in a similar situation as himself. Another said that he used to live on the streets. One day his friend told him about this project and through that he was able to turn his life around. He was very grateful to his friend who he said changed his life. Thank you to KUSHII for all the great work you are doing and for hosting the DD. Thank you to Malvinder Singh for making a really special day happen.
